TREMA & Places team up to bring Kiernan Laveaux to Hamilton for the final edition of *Music for Thursday* (M4T).
A boundless force of discordant energy, Laveaux channels an adventurous spirit—warping punk house, techno steeped in psychedelia and experimentation, laced with free-form scratching, FX, and surgical EQ work. Her sound refuses resolution, announcing itself boldly as it unravels in real time.
Opening duties fall to Hamilton’s own Geneva b2b Dunaway—a push-and-pull between Detroit-leaning electro-techno and leftfield dancefloor curios. A back-to-back as both dialogue and argument: agreements, refusals, calls, and responses that tangle into something entirely new.
As Laveaux told GROOVE in 2023, “Titonton Duvante once told me that being a Midwest DJ is about playing music from anywhere and making it sound like a piece of your spirit.” Born as a test night, M4T has long stretched the edges of the dancefloor—folding synth-wave, trip hop, dub, and other electronic outliers rooted in Hamilton’s DIY spirit. Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Hamilton—cities cut from similar industrial cloth, bound by parallel class histories and DIY culture.
For its last outing, M4T will move both body and mind—ping-ponging between forms, refusing to be pinned down.
